Roast Pork/叉烧

Roast pork


Light soy sauce 1tbsp
Dark soy sauce 1 tbsp
Vegetable oil 1 tbsp
Cooking wine 1 tbsp
Minced garlic 1 tbsp
Honey 2 tbsp
Salt pinch
White pepper pinch
Water 3 tbsp

Red yeast rice 1 tbsp

Use a food processor to grind red yeast rice so it will dissolve easily with the bright red color. Red yeast rice is mainly used to make Chinese wine, but it is also good for coloring. You can get it from Chinese supermarket.


Sauce: Mix all the ingredients in a cooking pan and heat up with medium high heat until boil. Turn the heat to low and simmer for 10 more minutes. Cool down.
This sauce is good for 300g of pork. Marinate the thin sliced pork (you can use any of your favor part of pork) with the sauce and leave them in the refrigerator overnight for the best flavor.
Hang the pork inside the oven with the help of paper clips. Make sure leave a baking sheet or something on the bottom with some water in it for the drippings. Roast the meat with 400F for 20-25 minutes. (Adjust the time according to how thin you slice your meat) This sauce is also good for ribs and wings. The finish product is very tender and kind of crisp with each bite. It is much better than buying from the restaurant.



If you want your roast pork to be more flavorful, then make some extra sauce and cook a bit longer until it is thicker like BBQ sauce. So when the roast pork is ready, brush it with this sauce.

醬汁: 混合所有的材料用中高火加熱直到煮沸。再用小火煮10分鐘。放凉。
這調味醬够腌 300 克猪肉。(猪肉切薄片) (你可以使用任何你喜欢的部位的豬肉) 用醬汁腌后放在冰箱裡隔夜最好。用回行针把豬肉挂在烤箱里。放个盘子装点水放肉下面接滴下来的油。400F(200C) 烤20-30 分鐘。(根据肉的厚度調整時間)這調味醬腌排骨和翅膀也很好。烤出来的叉烧好吃过店里买的, 又嫩又脆。




I got this recipe from I only have strawberries and black berries at home, so I didn’t do it with kiwis.

Original recipe makes 1 pavlova Change Serving

4 egg whites

1 1/4 cups white sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon lemon juice

2 teaspoons cornstarch

1 pint heavy cream

6 kiwi, peeled and sliced


  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Draw a 9-inch circle on the parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Gradually add in the sugar, about 1 tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat until thick and glossy. Gently fold in vanilla extract, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
  3. Spoon mixture inside the circle drawn on the parchment paper. Working from the center, spread mixture toward the outside edge, building edge slightly. This should leave a slight depression in the center.
  4. Bake for 1 hour. Cool on a wire rack.
  5. In a small bowl, beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form; set aside. Remove the paper, and place meringue on a flat serving plate. Fill the center of the meringue with whipped cream, and top with kiwifruit slices.

Sweet And Sour Radish/甜酸小萝卜


6, 7 medium size radishes

Cut the radishes in halves, then with the help of a pair of chop sticks as shown below, cut the radish evenly without breaking it into pieces.


Add 1TBSP of salt to the halved radishes and leave them for at least 30 minutes. Squeeze all the Salt water out of them then add 4TBSP of sugar and 2.5 TBSP of white rice vinegar. It will be ready to eat after a few hours. Over night is better.

Wonton Soup/云吞

1. Smashed shrimp 1 pound, ground pork 1 pound, Scallion 1/2 cup, minced ginger 1/2TBSP, salt 1TSP, oyster sauce 2TBSP
Sugar 1.5TSP, 3TSP soy sauce, chicken powder 1TSP, wine 1TBSP, sesame oil 1TSP, one egg.

2. One pack of wonton skin ( store bought)

Add all the ingredients in part one together and mix well. Make the wontons according to the link provided above.

you can choose wonton with noodles or just simply wonton soup.

In a big cooking wok, bring the water to boil, add the wontons in the water and cook for a few minutes, stir while cooking so they won’t stick to the bottom. When the water is boiling again add a small bowl of cold water.  After it is boiling again cook a few more minutes. You can cook any kind of your favor noodles in the boiling water then serve them with broth. I love to add some seaweed, white rice vinegar and dried tiny shrimps in the wonton soup. Yummy…

Chicken With Mixed Vegetable/杂菜鸡


Half pound of chicken breast

Two stem of wild rice stems

One stalk of celery

A few mini sweet pepper

A few shiitake mushrooms and white bell mushrooms

Marinate sliced chicken with pinch of salt, chicken powder and one tbsp of cooking wine for 30 minutes.

Slice all the vegetables. In a hot non stick pan add 4 tbsp of oil heat up the oil and precook the chicken until it turns white, take the chicken out and set aside. Add all the vegetables alone with 1 tsp of mince garlic in the pan, sauteed vegetables for 3 minutes then add 3/4 tsp of salt. Add the chicken into the mixed vegetable with 1/2 cup of water, cover and cook for 4-5 minutes. At the end add 1 tsp of chicken powder, 1/2 Tbsp. sugar, 1tbsp cooking wine  and a few drop of sesame oil.

Honey Wings/蜂蜜鸡翅


One pound wings (middle part)

Marinate wings with salt, chicken powder and wine for at least one hour. In a hot non stick pan, add a little bit of oil and pan fried each side of wings until golden brown. Add 1 1/2 tbsp of honey, 2 tbsp of light soy sauce and 1/2 cup of water. Cover the wings and cook for 10-15 minutes with medium low heat.

Meat Ball With Egg Tofu/荷塘月色


1 stick of egg tofu (thin sliced)

1/3 pound of ground pork

1/2 bag of preserved Mustard leaves

1/2 egg white


Mix pork and mustard leaves with 2tbsp of corn starch and 1/2 egg white. Add 1/2 tsp of minced ginger, since the mustard leaves are flavored, just add 2 tbsp of oyster sauce and little bit of chicken powder. Mix the pork and vegetable in one direction for a few minutes, then make a ball out of it. Place the ball on the center of the flat plate and surround it with the thin sliced egg tofu. Steam it over boiling water for about 8-10 minutes or until it is done. In a separated pot add some broth then bring to boil. Add a little bit of salt, chicken powder and white pepper to taste then thicken the sauce with 2 tbsp of starch water. pour the sauce over the pork and tofu.

1 条雞蛋豆腐 (薄切片)
碎豬肉1/3 磅
1/2 袋糟菜

混 合豬肉糟菜,2 湯匙的玉米澱粉和 1/2 蛋清。添加 1/2 茶匙的姜茸、糟菜已经有 味道了所有只加入2汤勺蠔油和一點點的雞粉。在一個方向搅拌豬肉和糟菜幾分鐘,然後做成一個球。將球放盘子中央,周圍放上鸡蛋豆腐。在沸水中蒸約 8-10 分鐘,或直到它熟透。在另外的锅中加入一点高汤煮开,加点盐,鸡粉,白胡椒调味,加2勺的水淀粉勾芡一下淋在上面。

Sweet And Sour Lotus Roots


1/2 pound of lotus roots (Thin sliced)

1/2 cup of sugar

3 tbsp of rice vinegar

Precook the lotus roots in boiling water for about 2 minutes and rinse under the running cold water until cool. in a big container mix well sugar and vinegar, then add the lotus roots in it for at least a few hours. Serve the dish cold. You can prepare this dish according to your own taste by adjusting the ingredients.

1/2 磅蓮藕 (薄切片)

Tomato Egg Drop Soup


There is no another Chinese soup dish going to be easier than this tomato egg drop soup.

one medium size tomato

one egg ( beat up)

a big bowl of broth or water

Cook the tomato in boiling water for 2-3 minutes so you can easily peel the skin off. Cut the tomato into small pieces.  In a pan, add a little bit of oil and sauteed the white part of scallion for 2 minutes then add tomato and broth ( water is fine too) bring it to boil then add in beaten egg. If you like the egg drop to be big, stir the broth slowly, otherwise, stir really fast then the egg drop is going to be small. Add in some salt and chicken powder to the taste.

放番茄在開水中煮 2-3 分鐘,所以你可以很容易剝番茄的皮。把番茄切成小塊。在一鍋裡加一點點油,炒蔥白 2 分鐘然後加番茄和肉湯 (水也是可以的) 把它煮開,然後加入打散的雞蛋。如果你喜歡蛋花較大,慢慢地攪動湯,否則就快速攪拌。加一些鹽,雞粉来调味。

Bread Machine Made Bread

1. 蜂蜜 3TBSP

2. 水 1/3 + 1/4 cup

3. 蛋 1个 (打匀)

4. 盐 1/2 tsp

5. 椰子粉 or 奶粉 1TBSP (optional )

6. 高筋面粉 2 cups

7. 酵母 2 tsp

8. 黄油 2 TBSP (半融化)

按面包机的顺序要求加材料1-8,选 Dough档和面,和面并第一次发酵后拿出来整理编辫子,放回面包机盒子里第二次发酵,(拿掉搅拌小翅膀)等到 发大后刷上蛋液,撒点椰子屑,选单独Baking档. 选crust中度, 烤50分钟。

1. Honey 3TBSP

2. Water 1/3 + 1/4 cup

3. Egg 1 ( beat up)

4. Salt 1/2 tsp

5. shredded coconut or dried milk powder 1TBSP (optional)

6. Bread flour 2 cups

7. Bread yeast 2 tsp

8. Butter 2 TBSP (half melted)

In addition: another egg slightly beat up reserved for bread surfaces.

By bread machine’s order requirements add in ingredients 1-8, selected Dough. Take it out after first fermentation, divide the dough into 3 even pieces then make braids. After that put it back to bread machine for second fermentation. 2 minutes before the second fermentation is done brush the top with beaten egg then add the shredded coconut. Select Baking with the medium crust and bake for 50 minutes.
